The LIFE Albufera project kicked off at the end of 2013. It is led by IIAMA (Water and Environment Engineering Institute) of the Technical University of Valencia and co-financed by ACUAMED, the Júcar River Basin Authority and the European Commission (through the LIFE + Programme). The partners consortium is formed by Acció Ecologista – AGRÓ, SEO/BirdLife and Fundación Global Nature.
The project objectives are to increase, in a coordinated manner, the efficiency of three artificial wetlands around l’Albufera of Valencia with a threefold objective: 1) to improve water quality in l’Albufera, 2) to provide renaturalised habitats and 3) to protect the birds in the wetland.
